The Office Plot, Main Characters & Production History
Let's sip on the coffee of the week & learn about the popular comedy the Office. I will be reviewing the plot, characters, and overall production history of the show. Let's get started.
The reason this review is mandatory on my blog is that Netflix has confirmed at the end of 2020, The Office will sadly be taken off. This depressing news was because the owners of this television series, NBC Universal, wanted to have it on their own streaming service. So what a fantastic time to get started on this ridiculously funny series.
This TV series is considered a Comedy, but I have also come across the term mockumentary on IMDb because it’s filmed as a documentary. This show is based off a paper company called Dunder Mifflin, which is a small paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The Office was on NBC from 2005-2013 and has 9 seasons, with 188 episodes. This show is about a group of unusual office workers that find hilarious, and sometimes inappropriate, ways to get through a day in the office.
This group is also very relatable, not only because of it’s documentary & real feel but also because of clashes among workers. I mean we can all relate to at least one clash that happens in this series.
The creators of this show are Greg Daniels, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant. Greg Daniels is a successful producer who has been involved in producing multiple TV series like Parks and Recreation (2009) & King of the Hill (1997). Ricky Gervais is a British actor and producer, who was also a part of The Office’ (UK) edition. He actually played the main character of the same show, just the British addition. Stephen Merchant is another British actor who also produced Extras (2005, and Fighting with My Family (2019). With all three of these producers working together to create this show, no wonder why it’s such an incredible comedy.
One of the best parts of this show are the characters, they bring the whole show together! There are a lot of supporting roles in this show, but the main characters are played by Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, and John Krasinski. They play the roles of Michael Scott, the manager, Pam Beesly, the receptionist, and Jim Halper, the sales representative.
One thing my readers have probably learned about me is that I am a hopeless romantic and a sucker for love stories. This was the main reason I continued to watch this series, was for the love interest involved in it. Don’t want to ruin it for anyone but if you start watching, you’ll know immediately what I am talking about. Overall this show has a funny plot, with amazing characters and a great production team. If you start binging The Office, please leave comments below about your thoughts on my comments so far.
I am heart broken that they are taking The Office off of Netflix, I didn't know that! That show got me through a lot of rough times, simply because I needed a laugh. The characters DO make the show! I cannot even imagine the show without Jim or Dwight. Great review!
